He had a major public failure but God still forgave Him. There were consequences but there was still grace. But make sure when we think someone else needs to learn a lesson, stop and look in the mirror first. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong>2 Samuel 12:1-14\u00a0 1 <\/strong>And the\u00a0Lord\u00a0sent\u00a0Nathan to David. He came to him and said to him,\u00a0\u201cThere were two men in a certain city, the one rich and the other poor.\u00a0<strong>2\u00a0<\/strong>The rich man had very many flocks and herds,\u00a0<strong>3\u00a0<\/strong>but the poor man had nothing but one little ewe lamb, which he had bought. And he brought it up, and it grew up with him and with his children. It used to eat of his morsel and drink from his cup and lie in his arms,[<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=2%20Samuel%2012%3A1-14&amp;version=ESV#fen-ESV-8290a\">a<\/a>]\u00a0and it was like a daughter to him.\u00a0<strong>4\u00a0<\/strong>Now there came a traveler to the rich man, and he was unwilling to take one of his own flock or herd to prepare for the guest who had come to him, but he took the poor man&#039;s lamb and prepared it for the man who had come to him.\u201d\u00a0<strong>5\u00a0<\/strong>Then David&#039;s anger was greatly kindled against the man, and he said to Nathan,\u00a0\u201cAs the\u00a0Lord\u00a0lives, the man who has done this deserves to die,\u00a0<strong>6\u00a0<\/strong>and he shall restore the lamb\u00a0fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>7\u00a0<\/strong>Nathan said to David, \u201cYou are the man! Thus says the\u00a0Lord, the God of Israel,\u00a0\u2018I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you out of the hand of Saul.\u00a0<strong>8\u00a0<\/strong>And I gave you your master&#039;s house and your master&#039;s wives into your arms and gave you the house of Israel and of Judah. And if this were too little, I would add to you as much more.\u00a0<strong>9\u00a0<\/strong>Why have you despised the word of the\u00a0Lord,\u00a0to do what is evil in his sight?\u00a0You have struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and\u00a0have taken his wife to be your wife and have killed him with the sword of the Ammonites.\u00a0<strong>10\u00a0<\/strong>Now therefore the sword shall never depart from your house, because you have despised me and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.\u2019\u00a0<strong>11\u00a0<\/strong>Thus says the\u00a0Lord, \u2018Behold, I will raise up evil against you out of your own house. And I will take your wives before your eyes and give them to your neighbor, and he shall lie with your wives in the sight of this sun.\u00a0<strong>12\u00a0<\/strong>For you did it secretly,\u00a0but I will do this thing before all Israel and before the sun.\u2019\u201d\u00a0<strong>13\u00a0<\/strong>David said to Nathan,\u00a0\u201cI have sinned against the\u00a0Lord.\u201d And Nathan said to David,\u00a0\u201cThe\u00a0Lord\u00a0also has put away your sin; you shall not die.\u00a0<strong>14\u00a0<\/strong>Nevertheless, because by this deed you have utterly\u00a0scorned the\u00a0Lord,[<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=2%20Samuel%2012%3A1-14&amp;version=ESV#fen-ESV-8301b\">b<\/a>]\u00a0the child who is born to you shall die.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Following Jesus and enjoying life are not mutually exclusive.
