Two Ears and One Mouth

Have you ever thought about how much you use the two faculties? There is a time and place for both but most of us can always improve in
our ability to listen.

Seek to understand those around you. Look for the chance to learn from everyone. Keep an open mind to those around you. No matter the stage of life or phase of family, you should always been in a position to listen and learn.

Three quick tips to improve your listening:

  1. Set aside distractors. Put the phone down, turn the tv off, and make appropriate eye contact with the person speaking.
  2. Repeat and rephrase what you hear spoken. This will help the speaker feel heard and settle the message into your heart.
  3. Ask questions. When you ask good questions, the other person will have more time to speak. It will help them to express themselves and you will have more time to understand what they are trying to say.

Putting these small acts into practice will help you to settle and avoid minor personal conflicts.

Speak a little less. Listen a little more.
